No worries...Im NOT trading my car.
But there was an 01 Z06 on the dealers lot and I thought Id swing by for a drive. The car had 30k miles, dual air, cd. 100% stock to the air box.
To the drive....as we pulled out I noticed how tight the car was. The C5 chassis is very solid. The 6speed shifted nice and the clutch weight is comparible to that of the b2k, although its a bit grabbier. The car was very docile around town and would make a great daily driver.
I took it to the interstate and with an open ramp ahead I proceeded to wring it out. The car performed nicely, but seemed to be hesistating. Oops forgot to turn the trac control off.
That wouldn't happen again. On the highway the car pulled really strong. It reminded me of a ZR1 b/c you really have to rev it to get any power. The car was pinging a tad bit, so i took it easy for almost the rest of the drive
I had one more 15-70 acceleration blast with trac off.
The brakes were phenominal!! Easily one of the best parts of the car. Between the solid frame and brakes the car drove well. I was pretty impressed...it felt better than other C5s Ive driven.
The down side, which is probably obvious, the lack of power compared to my car. Im sure a heads and cam car will run well. But compared to the awesome torque rush of a B2k, the car seemed a little reserved.
Its a truly great foundation....the Callaway Twin Turbo C6 is gonna be absolulely AWESOME! save your bucks.
