I had a surging problem after adding a bottom fed intake beneath my Blackwing. I went into ZO6vette.com and read a post with someone with the same problem. They fixed their's by removing the Blackwing and installing a round K&N filter. The post said that his air was coming in from two different directions, the Blackwing, due to its shape made it real turbulent and caused the surging. They said that the round filter straightened out the air flow. That got me thinking. I reinstalled my old filter lid over the Blackwing enclosing the filter over the bottom fed intake, similar to the vortex rammer or the lid that I've seen offered with the filter. Surging is gone for good. Surging never occured during throttle applications, only at cruise, sort of a bucking feeling.

Wander if you didn't have an air leak someplace aroud the MAF. It justs seems like many run the BW with no trouble.

Yes, but there is an air scoop inverted below the filter grabbing air from underneath in the radiator area too.
