Hi All,
Im in the process of swapping out my muncie for a Richmond Overdrive Transmission.
So far, in theory, it doesnt appear to complex or problematic.

Has Anyone done the swap yet, or have thoughts on how best to make the crossmember removeable and how to go about fabricating the new mount bracket and mount?
Any feedback on this subject will be appreciated.

There are already a few threads and pics on the web about this , but , Maybe I'll be able to make my swap more complete with step by step details and pics for anyone else interested in doing it.

Anyhoo, Ill try and keep my progress up to date on the cacc.

I have found some pics of a very well fab'd Bracket and mount for the ROD. Ill post them in this thread soon.

heres some real decent pics of a new tranny mount bracket and mount for the ROD.
Dont know why the guy didnt try to market these little jewels?

-Hello TC?: -that alum,-bracket looks really sanitary, maybe he has the cnc-machine program, and will whip-out a few more if you know how to contact him. Also been contemplating this change (among others here no doubt), and wondering if you have the different actual gear-ratio comparisons for us? Presuming the 1st-gear is also substantially lower than the 4-speed/Muncie, with the new 2-nd being only slightly higher-geared(faster) than your Muncie's 1st-gear; and the new 6th-gear being a 30%-od.... -please advise!

Bob... It crossed my mind that a cnc mill had been setup to make that bracket also, alot of work for one piece huh??
Sure would like to have one!

I have the chart for the ratio selection guide, but it comes out a mess when I try and paste it in here so Ill just put the url to it at the richmond gear site..

Im thinking 2.77 for first and .62 for the OD gear at this point, but Im still researching.
Ive heard the .62 will give me around 2K rpms at 70-75mph.. I can dig that, my SB will be up around 400hp in a few months and I may be able to interstate cruise and get over 20mpg..that'll be a first :D

Jegs says a corvette combo for the ROD is..
Corvette
1st: 3.28
2nd: 2.14
3rd: 1.57
4th: 1.24
5th: 1.00
6th OD: .76

Hey Tom, haven't seen you around in a while. How's it going? Anyways here's a thread with some information that I supplied another member last summer. One link might be dead, but the others are relevant. 5-Speeds. Don't let the title fool you, there's some good stuff in there.

Tom,

As you know, I am also in the hunt. Just way too many things on my plate right now to digest, much less $3K more for a different trans. I have decided to put the 90 Vette back up for sale eventhough I just sunk $3K in it to put Richmond 3.75 rear gears, and all new (I mean BRAND NEW) suspension under it.

I figure that I can split the proceeds to the house and to the 69 so that I can finish the rear porch (if I don't get tranferred soon), and set up for the trans swap.

I planned on the same gear ratios as you, but believe it or not I would be going with the 10 spline shaft as I already had a new ready to go Quarter Master clutch assembly sitting on the shelf.

Had I been more wise, I would have set a budget for this trans on day one, and made the mods while the body was off the frame!

Keep us posted.

Hey Bullitt, Im going to try and be active on the CACC these next few months while doing phase 263 through 271 on my 69..hahaaa.
seriously, I'd like to have the ROD in by the first of feb. then start getting my sb motor up to 380hp or maybe a hair more by march, and then see youall at bowling green, carlisle, and daytona this year!!!!

Thanks for the feed..Noel Carboni seems extremely happy with the way his Rod installation worked out :).

Chris..Hope your plate clears enough to get the tranny in before a whole lot of time anyway. Yeah I saw your inquiry earlier about how to finance the ROD? I drew a blank! Youll come up with a plan Im sure :).
I think I see what you mean ,.. by already being invested with the quartermaster assy, your stuck with the 10 spline config.
Is there anyway of getting a 26spline disk in the quartermaster so you can get the heavier duty 26spline ROD??

Ill keep posting as I progress with this..
