So i was browsing through the shops and i saw a rear sway bar. Does the 81 come with a swar bar? Mine doesnt have one and if so can i get a pic where it mounts?

It mounts to the bottom of the frame w/ links to the end of the trailing arms. Adding a small one will remove some or all of the understeer designed in to the suspension. So be careful if you add one cuz you might find the rear end wanting to lead the way. ;)

It's on page 4F Sheet 2 in the Rear Suspension section of the '73 AIM. Don't know if it's the same for all years.

Do a search on rear sway bar. I went through this already. If you need pics, PM me with your email and I'll send them. Normally, if you install a rear sway bar, you will have to upgrade your front sway bar to prevent over/understeer.

I found that the 1.125" front bar and 9/16" rear bar gave me fairly neutral handling. A big block would require a bigger rear bar.

This is what I ended up doing. It did change the feel and the ride. I think I have the rear end links to tight.

Since the rubber isolators in the links have a steel bushing, I don't think you can get too tite. Is it the stock factory setup?

No, the rear sway bar is custom. I'm going to experiment with it some this weekend. It takes a little more adjustments to keep the car center when steering. She seems to handle nice around turns though.

IF yours did not come with factory sway bar then do your reserch not all rear setups will work. A factory setup should, afterrmarket may not. Mine did not have the sway bar, the holes are in the frame for the mounts and on the trailing arm.
I purchased an entire VBP suspension system. Everthing bolted up fine except the rear bar which still is not on, as it will not fit properly. VBP make great parts and they have worked with me on this, however still will not work.

Actually, I did do my research. My rear custom sway bar fits. I have an original rear sway bar as well. The directions that came with the rear sway bar said that I should be able to turn the spacers by hand on the end links which to me were to lose so I tightened them. The car feels different so I need to loosen them. No problem here just experimenting with ride and fitment...
