My vette is one of the many unlucky fellows that have the TH 350. I thought about a 700R4, but let's face it... I worked really hard for this car and I'm 19, I want a T-56.
I suppose a Tremec 5 speed would work well too, but I think if I'm going to be spending that much money and doing such a huge project, I might as well go balls out. So........ because I don't have $3 grand lying around as I pay for college, I would be greatly indebted to anyone who either has or might know someone with an old, but still in good order, tremec and could give me a good price for it.

:booty :dance

Has anyone ever tried putting more than 4-speed in their shark??? I'm ready for all comments, suggestions, and ideas, just try not to be too mean. Thanks alot all.

Hey how do I get a picture of my street rod to show up under my name like all you guys have??? I just got like 15 digital pics today and I'm ready to be posting with my picture too. You can't have all the fun.

Contibution to the site my man. Note the length of time I have been a member and the number of posts and then look at yours.

You'll get there. Go to the profile area and look for instructions on an Avatar. It will tell you the criteria.

Hey Lookit Me!!! I have a picture in my signature!!!

Nyah nah! Ha Ha!! heheheh....:L :L just kidding.

I'm on my way out the door right now, but if ya havine't figured it out by tonight, I'll try to throw some hints your way (if someone else hasn't beaten me to it...)

I think for the T-56 you have to worry about the crossmember and the shifter being displaced backwards a bit and a new shorter drive shaft.

If you look in mags you can find used ones but like forest sad "life is like a box of chocolates......"

just try not to be too mean
this is heaven compared to other places. Its dog it dog out there. your going to love this place!!

Play around with the forum, you'll figure it out.

Hello there and welocme to the forum. Luckily for you I've complied some information in a previous post about the conversions of 5 and 6-speed manual transmissions in Sharks. Here they are:

5 Speeds
Richmond 6-speed Swap
5 or 6 Speed C3
Big Block from Hell Part 16

Of course, the Richmond is expensive if you're trying to keep everything on the lowside. You could try the 5-speeds mentioned with the overdrive or just hunt for an old Doug Nash unit. Richmond bought out DN awhile back. Hope the information helps. :gap

I have the Richmond's Road Race version on my 79-used-to-be-automatic-vette. I'm currently doing a complete body off job and I'm at the last stages of doing it, so I don't have real life driving experience yet. The road race version comes with tougher internal parts. Unlike people have said here, you can have 5-speed richmond with O/D you get to choose all other gear exept 5th which is 1:1, but you can have 0.84 OD 4th gear!

Here should be a link to the road race version info:

Richmond 5-speed Road Race version

You also might want to check out this link:
5-speed swap for 69 Camaro

although it's a 5-speed swap for Camaro it still has great information, like comparision between Tremec and Richmond.

Hey Bullit

Cool Avatar

One of the guys at my lab is really big on F1 racing. They bought Ferrari Team T-shirts (turn me off red) and put together really advance models together. Maybe I can get some pics.

Juve, one of the guys, showed me the Renault website and they had a clip of them dynoing one of the engines

18+ RPM!!:eek :j , they also had a close up of the injectors. I don't know why they even bothered closing them, it looked like a steady stream!!:eek Juve was telling me that they were some of the most efficient engines because there were no manifolds.

I know they are going into gasoline direct injection and they are liking it because of the "different" torque curve and improved fuel economy. My fiance gave me a 1yr subscription to Racecar Engineering, cool mag. Have you checked it out?

Frank

Nice

Thanks for the help guys.... that's some serious reading. Sounds like one of those projects that can and has been done, but it's a pretty arduous task. What are some of your guys feelings on the difference between a 5 and 6 speed? Isn't the only real difference that last ratio with better gas mileage and a few more mph top end? Those 5 speed bolt on kits I read about sound alot more reassuring.

Good info though, thanks a bunch.

Frank, Racecar Engineering is a great magazine, but I found another that I like better. It's called Race Car Tech. Both are really informative and vastly superior to regular magazine layouts of the technical side of real racers.

I've been in love with F1 for most of my life. The first time I ever saw a race was on ABC, a GP of Monaco many years ago. That was pretty much the the end of any other sport I liked. Did your friend get the actual "official" team shirts? God, those things are so expensive. :( One day I'll get out to Spa, San Marino, Monza or Suzuka and catch a race. Renault does have one of the best websites and I spent maybe four hours checking everything out the first time I was there. :L

You can see direct port injection at work on the street Ducati 998s and other 916 derivatives, besides F1. One of the reasons I like motorcycles so much, is that the technology there is very close to race machines. There are some websites that deal primarily with F1 that also have great clips and some tech. The downside of course, is that every team keeps everything so secretive that hard facts are difficult to come by.
