T-TOP vs. CONVERTIBLE
I agree with ALL the other replies.
I currently own a Sunfire Convertible (driver) and have owned 3 other convertibles in my lifetime. There's NOTHING like a drop-top.
But, fact is: All Convertibles leak to some degree, as do the T's.
My Corvette Coupe has a set of T's, a 1-piece Astro Top and the canvas covered "Rain Coat" top. With me, it's all about options.
I always store and drive the Vette with the tops out, and use them accordinally.
T-Tops: Winter (Once on, they don't come off untill Spring)
Astro Top: Easy on and easy off. I use for quick security when needed, overnight outside parking, etc...
Rain Coat: Canvas tops uses the least room to store. Not much security, but a good back-up for the not-so-nice days.
One difference comparing T's with a Vert Corvette is the rear storage area. When in the down position, I think the convertible top canvas would be sitting directly in front of any anything back there, including rear speakers in the car, destorting any sound.
I wouldn't take a Vette vert on a weekend get-a-way. I mean, how do 2 people get 2 or 3 pieces of luggage back there and still drive with the top down?
It's hard enough in my 81, I can't imagine doing so in a vert.
In closing, I'm not bashing verts. I LOVE'UM.
Open air, sun beating down and rock & roll.
A true SPORTS CAR.
You also can't deny the resale value of Convertibles.
They hold (or increase) their price, and simply:
THE FUN FACTOR, you can't beat a vert.
