Hi guys, thanks for you help on the lazy pass head lamp (fixed the diafram) My question, will 1977 t-tops fit a 79 vette. whenever these are listed, replacement and weatherstriping, to catorgorize 68-77 and 78-82. I beleive the 79 was the year they installed alarm leads to the rear receiving plates. Is there any dimensional difference? will they (seal) into the chrome roof insert properly? do they use the exact same weatherstrip? I can get a set of 77s that are perfect, but only if they will fit. Thanks Jon.

I was just looking in the catalog...

for information regarding t-tops and parts. Anyhow, at the top of the ad page is this:
"68-77 t-tops have double latch (front and rear) while 78-82 have a single front latch with a sliding lock rod at the rear."

So, I think you would need that sliding rod at the rear for your '79.

The same ad page commented on the Acrylic Astro top that the 78-82 will fit the 68-77 with slight modification, so I am asuming it can be done, but I don't know how.

Regardless, it will not fit without modification.
Heidi

I am trying to find the 'sleeve' for the sliding rod, where the rod slips into the vehicle's body. Mine are cracked and allowing the tops to spring outward.

Heidi,

CorvetteWorld, 800-327-0185, has "78-82 T-Top Rear Mounting Plate w/ Bushing Black for $16.25 each. Part #'s 2050 (left) and 2051 (Right). Did not have just the bushing.

Is this what you are looking for.?

Thanks heidi, and bobchad. It seems that the 68-77 are a 4 latch set-up, (I am still new to this stuff) that I would assume not allow me to use my stock headliners either. Does not seem like a practical choice. Thanks for the receiving plate info, I was told they are discontinued. I am sure it's a repro, don't know if they are black or chrome, but I'll call. Heidi, mid-america and ecklers has a t-top 78-82 (rejuvinate) kit that has the (plastic white) bushing inserts, along with some other trim screws etc. cost is 22 bucks and change, hope it helps. The motor (70 LT-1) and side pipes soon to be done (by sat. hopefully) and the numbers L-82 to be re-built, and stored. Thanks again

Thank you!

I needed the bushing, and my original ones are a gray-ish color. At this point, any color will do!
Heidi
