I am a new member and am thinking about putting a t-5 trans in my '61. Does anyone have any input regarding vendors, kits, or other items relating to the swap. Thanks, Sandy Gillman

First of all let me welcome you to the group :happyanim: I am not sure what the t-5 transmission is, auto or stick ;shrug but sure someone will chime in, surely been done before! You might want to post in the new members section so everyone will be able to welcome you as well. Also this post would get more beneficial and related info back to you if it also would be moved to the right section for the series. Hopefully this will be moved for you as well and ;help soon as one of the staff members see it. Good luck and wished I could be better help but someone should be posting and moving soon!

Welcome to the CAC

I'm going to move this thread down to the C1/C2 Forum so your question will get more attention.

I'm not sure any T-5 will fit without cutting the transmission hump. The shifter is in the middle and does not line up with the existing shifter hole. Depending on which T-5 the shifter may be forward or behind the stock shifter.

There are TKO-500 and TKO-600 kits with shifter in the correct location. They are a very tight fit. Recommended installation procedure calls for engine removed, or at least moved forward enough to install the transmission then putting engine back in place.

Welcome to the forum.

Post some pictures and tell about your car.

Keeping everything stock has always been my preference but sometimes depends on what it is. Also what your future plan would be for the car, keep it or sell it? Usually you want to be able to take it back to stock easily and not much of that either!
