tach filter location HELP

i am completely baffled and frustrated. i have a 79 and unable to locate tach filter as tach is not working...repplaced board, not work...cannot find filter...any pics of where fikter is?

Mine is located just in front of the distributor and is mounted to the intake manifold ( 79 - 350 )

Your filter may be gone and might be why your tach wasn't working. The chassis service manual and AIM show the location of the filter.

On my 1979 L 48 350. It is a cylinder, about ½ inch. in diameter , and about 1 ½ inches long, with a wire out of each end. It is attached to the intake manifold to the left and a little forward of the distributor. One wire goes to the distributor and the other goes to the tack.

That must explain why my Tach does not work. I checked yesterday after reading this thread, and about three inches of wire come out of distributo, Then a splice of about four inches of wire, and another splice. Seems someone took out the filter for some reason or another. Looks like another thing for me to add to the to do list...
