I have a smalll question regarding the taillamps. On my vette the inner ones are used as tail lights, and the outer ones as turn signals only.
I think it looks weird, should it be so, or has this been changed on my car? :confused
As this car was imported to Sweden, I guess the previous owner could have changed this. Because the vechicle inspection in Sweden is really picky on this when it's imported goods. You should actually convert the turn signal lights to orange ones (European standard).

When not using the turn signal, shouldn't all lamps be on?
If this is the case, I'll change it back immediately...

On my 1995>>

On mine both lights on each side are running, turn, and brake lights for thier corresponding side.

There is a "Euro" kit available from Eckler's Corvette (and probably other Corvette shops) that have split lights that replace all your red lamps and split them so the top half is red and the bottom half is amber. Then the bottom halfs are amber turn signals and the top halfs are red running/brakes lights.

Hope this helps.

Thanx for the info!

Thanx for the info Dave,

That was what I thought.
The rules at the vechicle inspection seems to be the same in Switzerland and Sweden - just moved here recently. If you bring a car as part of your moving goods to Sweden, then you are allowed to have red turn signals. Strange rules huh?! :crazy

And since the Swiss vechicle insp. approved the car with red turn signals last year I only have to change back to the original setting with all lights on.

It's a US car, so I want to stay that way! :)

Check with the local inspection station. While they accept the red lights, they might have a problem with the brake light going off when the turn signal is flashing.

One thing is for sure, with Swiss plates, Swiss driver’s license and a current inspection you will not have problems driving any where in Euro land. One of my partners who drives around a Swiss plated GT-365 with a F1 motor, no cats, and tires marked ¨for racing use only¨, has never been stopped or even given a second look!!

I don not know the status of Switzerland with the EEC but I think the same rules apply to you.

The EEC allows you to bring your private car with you when you change your residence from one member state to another. So long as you do so within 6 months of your change of residence. This car is exempt from taxes, and other Bull$#i%.

Furthermore all member states of the EEC are required to accept any car that has been registered in any other member state. They are required to register the car in a minimum amount of time at a nominal charge.(2 weeks and 100€)

Spain is the exception. If you bring any car not built for the Euro market to Spain even if this car was sold new in the EEC and has been registered and driven in the EEC you are out of luck.

Call that "nominal charge" !!

Denmark is another exeption.
You have to pay appx. 180% registration tax. This is based on an estimate of the market value which is most often estimated too high and then you have to pay roughly twice that amount!

Different strokes...

I rewired mine and changed the outer taillights to amber because I liked the look. I had seen it once, many years ago. My outer tails flash and the inners don't.

I ran a new wire from the flasher to the inner lights and clipped the correct wires to the outers, at each light, to accomplish this; no kit needed, but it took three days to color my wiring diagram, trace the wires, decipher the logic and do the work.

Now, I have an unused, spare pair of red taillights. The ambers cost US$100, BTW, from J&D Corvette.
