Will the rear ends hold up with DR's? I know that the manuals are a little bit stronger then the auto's. Are you going to do any drivetrain modifications with the DR's?

Justin,
my plans are let it break then fix it. as much as i beat on this car (doing donuts, burnouts, drifting, racing ect ect) it hasn't failed yet. i've seen D36's break at 13.0 (where i'm at now) and seen them go as far as 11.8x's on slicks and 3500 stalls on stock gears. (3.07)
remember the lower the # the bigger the ring gear is. the pinion and ring gear sets 2-3 teeth inside itself giving it more strength than say 3.73's which usually only yields 1 tooth contact patch. this is weaker and why most people break rears because they think this mod is the best bang for the buck, which in all reality it's not especially if you mod away. so in retrospect to your question, no i don't think it will break until i add a stall. as you hear the car launch you can hear the torque coming on slowly till 3000 rpm then it's full bore. with a stock stall of 1600 rpm IMO your not hitting the rear tires hard enough for it to break.
also you have to realize what Pre-Load is. Preloading the car and brake stalling is the same thing. it just simply loads the drive train with torque before the initial hit. this makes the gears already seated steadfastly so it's not shocking it like not preloading it or Flash Stalling the car. this occurs when the your at idle and you simply just switch feet and nail the gas.
in the vid above i preloaded the drivetrain or brake stalled it (which ever you rather call it) to 1100 rpm then swapped feet.
with a 2.59 geared car and stock 1600 stall trust me it is very hard to get the car to do what it done in the video dead stock or with little mods such as i got. most of the time the car will fall on it's face till around 2500 rpm then it will pick up and pull the torque #'s. this also is very hard to master especially at the track with sticky tires, no gears, and no stall. for me to pull 1.80 60' times with out my headers last year was amazing. best 60' this year has only been a 1.85 and i was spinning when i ran the 13.18. i'm waiting for cooler weather to come back so i get some good DA and then i'm going back to the track and running some mid 12's at probably 108 mph. all on a stock TPI motored Vette.
matter of fact saturday night i ran into a guy i met at a local hangout. he has an 87 vette also. with more mods, (bolt on's) ported plenum, AIR Delete pulley, 58 mm TB, gutted cat, no mufflers and a cam i still pulled him by 1/4 car from a dead dig to 3rd gear and then i start to pull even more on him but we only ran once and we shut down due to traffic. i told him to put the 48 mm TB back on but he insists the 58 mm TB on a stock motor gives more HP. Ok keep believing that. like i told him you got beat by a mostly stock vette. i've seen big mouth base, large runners, (AS&M) and cammed C4 only run 12.8x at 107 mph. i pulled 105.84 hazing the tires off the launch. he was amazed at my times as most are when they see my car.
Rich can tell you i don't have much mods in this car. just alot of tuning and knowledge by doing my homework.
