1. Does the small pin-hole on the face of the ignition switch have something to do with removing the switch from the '67 cluster? If not, how do you remove the switch?

2. How do you remove the wiper switch? I've turned it out beyond the threads, but it appears that a clip of some kind (visible from the front of the cluster) is hanging on. Special tool required?

3. How do you remove the tach needle? Pull while praying? :D

Thanks.

Bob

#1 With the key in, push a paper clip in the hole, this makes it so you can pull out the center piece then unscrew the piece on the bezel

#2 Push in the little plunger it pull the switch out

#3 turn counter clockwise and pull off.

#1. With the key in!!!! :duh

#2. Wiper switch - more explanation please. Plunger?

#3. Thanks. Is it threaded?

if you think you were swearing up a storm just trying to get past the ign and wiper switches, just wait . . . it gets better . . . especialy when it comes time to put it back on and you are fiddling with all of those little bulb sockets . . . :crazy

I don't know what clip you are talking about, all I have ever had to do is pull the rod out with the little plunger piece and unscrew the piece, can you post a pick of the clip

#3 Not threaded, just turn and pull.

Good Luck,

Tom

Sorry but I can not find my service manual. But I thought that the wiper handel was held on by an allen head screw.then you remove the entire switch.

I think the head light switch has the plunger

Larry,

Yes the headlight switch has the plunger. I got the wiper knob off (Allen key), but am having touble getting the actual switch out. It turns out of the threads but is still held in by something.

I am wrong, I must have misread your first post, as Larry noticed, I have been talking about the headlight switch, and I have never removed the wiper switch.

I think some kind of assumed the dash-remover was talking about the headlight switch because the ign and headlight switch are the two switches to be removed prior to dash removal (if you know what's good for you anyway) as per the Shop Manual. You can readily remove the dash with the wiper switch still installed. At least I did.

And as for the headlight switch, be careful after removal as it then dangles and a hot area on the switch just might make contact with Mr. Ground (Again, at least mine did!)
