Hey, I hate to sound like suck a rookie about this stuff but that's exactly what I am. New to all of this. Just pruchased my first Corvette and it's a 1998 Coupe.

OK, so I'm prepping it for winter storage to keep it nice and clean top to bottom and safe from the Central Illinois winter.

With that in mind, I am in the process of purchasing a car cover and just want to verify the right body style I am going to purchase.

While, I believe, my 1998 coupe would be considerd a targa fastback the company I plan to buy from lists both the coupe and the "targa fastback" as body options. So, which is it? Is my 1998, with both the glass and painted top, considered a coupe.............or is it considered a targa fastback for the purpose of this purchase?

In looking in the manual it makes no reference to either body style. That I can see.

In advance, thanks, thanks for your help.

It's a Targa Fastback.:thumb
If it were a Coupe it would look like this.............

In '98, the Corvette was only available as a "targa fastback" and a convertible. I think GM actually calls it a "Sport Coupe".

The "coupe" junkie pictured is called the "Hardtop" or "Fixed Roof Coupe".

I wonder why aftermarket companied use different names for these models making it hard for folks to buy the right product for their car?

If only part of the roof comes off, it's a targa. A coupe has many definitions, depending on model. You have a targa. Unfortunately, there is no standard industry definition for coupe. VW makes a 4 door they call a coupe...go figure.;LOL
