In the diagnostic for my air distribution problem, the service manual calls out using a "Tech 1" and a Body Systems Cartridge.....what are these?

Am I forced to take the car to the dealer to get this diagnosise?

Defrost is the home position for the air vents. You have a vacuum leak. Start with pulling the right side fuel rail cover and look for a "T" shaped plastic check valve. When you remove the vac lines it will fall apart. $6.00 from your dealer, $2.60 from Napa auto parts. If you still have the same problem check the vacuum control assy mounted on the fire wall up from the gas pedal. Their should be a retainer holding the vac hoses on, its more than likely gone.

Already checked the check valve...its there and working fine, holds vacuum with engine off. I have vacuum going into the HVAC programmer but none coming out on any of the other lines as I switch through the buttons on the temp controller. So either the temp controller is dead or the HVAC programmer is...just trying to figure out which.

Thanks,

After replacing both the control head and the HVAC Programmer with units from a salvage yard, (i.e. operational condition unknow) it appears that I have a defective HVAC Programmer. Best price for a re-man'ed one is $652! Just going to live with the way it operates for now.

You can go to my other threads and read about what all I did to troubleshoot this problem.
