Does anybody want to make a"Tech Session" day of the re-install of my ZF6 trans and modified rear diff in the coming weeks?

Not that I need the help, but I thought it might be fun to have one or two of you guys over to lend a hand, learn and explore the underbelly of the C4, then maybe help me go out and flogg the car to see what the new rear gears will do.

I will most likely be reinstalling this stuff in the next two-three weeks. I would do it on a Saturday. It one, two, three folks want to come out, we can do a little cook out and kick back a bit. We have cable t.v. in the shop, so keeping up with the latest games is not a problem.

It would be most awesome if somebody would man the camera and take notes so we could create a detailed thread that is all about the rear diff and trans removal/install on the C4.

Thanks,

Chris

I wish I could make it but that is a bit of a drive for me :D

If you could wait until between Christmas and New Years, when I'm in Florida, I'd love to... but I kinda have a feeling you can't wait. I'd love some electronic copies of the pix you take, though.

I Would Try....

Hello All !

Chris, if you could let me know far enough in advance, I would consider driving down on a Fri. night for a Sat. & Sun. gig. I would need a place to crash for Sat. night. I would volunteer to do the camera work ! LoL...

Steve.

I am thinking as late as Nov 9. Would that be early enough?

You can stay with us, or in one of the several hotels that are a stones throw from here. There is also a nice car cruise that Saturday night.

I will keep you guys posted.

Chris, I would be interested as well as the 95 will need a clutch soon anyway. The work I typically do on my car is the general maintainance stuff, like plugs, wires, fluids, filters, etc. This would be a fantastic learning experience. And being only a couple hours away could come up early Sat morning. Keep us posted as I'm pretty open.

I am getting into a time crunch to pull this together.

The rear diff is going to take longer than expected to get back to me simply because we had to order the full bearing/seal set and my jobber did not have them in stock.

I will be hammering out the poly bushings over the next couple of nights. I started on the rear diff support last night.

So, if all goes well, by Nov 9, I will be ready for the full reassembly.

Chris, that's a good idea and I wish I could make it but infortunately I work Sat nights and wouldn't be able to make it:(
That's something I would really like to see too.

Awwww.... I want to check this out bad... but I already have plans to go to the Silver Springs show on the 9th.... If it is delayed, I would gladly help/take pics/notes/whatever is needed

Directions

Chris,
Need directions please?:confused Are you going to work on it this Saturday. Pre Pixs maybe? Need to change out the U joints on the main shaft. Can't even see the drive shaft up in the tunnel. Short shafts were done just before the body restore.

Give me a call at work. It's ok. It will ring at my desk. I'm off on Friday with the wife doing some running (honey do's) Might go look at an 89 convertable over at Lucas Vettes. He wants $14K. Haven't gotten a real close look at it yet.

DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob, I left the house without your business car this morning, so I can reach you until later.

My work number is 278-3424, and I will be here until about 5:00

I am going to clean the shop up tonight and get ready for a long day of pulling and pressing bushings on Saturday. The local car council is cruising at Hooters off Wells Rd. Saturday night, so we will be taking Killer up there.

Call me so we can coordinate.

Thanks,

Chris

Looks like 11/9 will be the day to hoist the trans back into the car and maybe then yank the front suspension out and install the lowering blocks.

Anybody interested in coming over should just contact me at

chrisnikki@juno.com

I will give you directions, etc.

We can cover what all is involved in the single mass flywheel conversion for the six speed guys. What all is covered in a trans/clutch change in general. We can review the rear suspension in full detail in terms of the individual parts and components to keep an eye on for wear and tear. We will also expore the front suspension and the bushing change.

That is a full plate, so no particular order. I hope to have the rear poly bushings and most of the rear suspension already installed before Saturday.

Thanks to Bob Simpson (Jet4rs) we got the trans back in the beast this morning. The rear diff reinstall will have to happen over the next week, and I will document that in my other thread.

I did tweak my low back hoisting the trans on the workbench to install the new driven gear for the speedo. Man, it hurts. Gotta take some happy pills later and everything will be alright.
