Chris whoever buys that car to do a transplant had better have a whole lot of money. Just thunk what is involved new ramshorn and supplimental injectors 2 intercoolers ,2 downpipes, AT LEAST ONE TURBO. wonderbar , framework to fit the turbos and resupport it .2 exhaust manifolds custom exhaust set up for a Callaway, new plenum , runners , throttlebody, Callaway ac lines stock lines will not work. All turbo plumbing, Larger radiator, oil pump, transmision, new head, ect the list goes on. the cost of these pieces is through the roof not to mention some are not made anymore. The microfuel is not needed as a new management system would be better control for the system. Whoever buys that car had better be a magician because only a wave with a magic wand will ever get that car on the road again correctly.
Everything you have posted is stuff that will need atention but there is alot that you cant see in just pictures so to just assum it is damaged is not a bad thing at all. and looking at it that way then yes the list is stagering.

I do not claim to know anything about callaway cars but I am trying to learn.
the big work that most are afraid of is the frame thats nothing if you know how to weld! If callaway did It I can do.
we have all seen intercoolers and turbos for sale in the past I cant think that callaway developed the turbos in house someone else made them as I have found rebuild kits for that 87 turbo, or I could put 88 turbos on it.
Nothing is imposible especially when you do your own work.

The funny thing about that wreck is I don't think it hit a tree and if it did it caught a limb, I think it hit another car or a truck for that matter the frame was not pushed back it was pushed down.. but alas we may never know what happens to this car

did anyone ever hear anything more on the 87 that had a engine fire?
that is a var I could definetly work with!

Forget about the 88 style turbos they do not exist anymore. If they did I would buy spares as other owners would also.Callaway turbos housings are made by them and are not available anywhere else. . Johnny I I just trying to tell you that knowing Callaway cars like I do there is no way you can fix that car without breaking the bank! The best that car could be is a for parts car only . Then it would only be good for someone who had a 1987 model also .I am just trying to shed light on the fact that t the car is in no way fixable being that the parts needed are no longer available.

So with concern to the turbos what are you to do if one is damaged?

...there is damage, and then there is DAMAGE :eek

I know a set of 88+ turbos that were rebuilt last year, the housings were still intact - There may be more on this subject soon ;)

The turbos seen avail, have been 87 units (IHI's) and seem to be a bit more common. Pete (Callaway4Fun) is correct, parts such as the rams horn, whether you use the microfueller & its supplemental injectors or not is a crucial piece of the package, intercooler cores, NOT THE UNITS were about 600 - or - 800 bucks per side without tanks welded :eek
You then have all the trim and small parts, i.e.clamps, cleats, hoses, clips, brackets, etc., that were all part of the B2K package.

I would think that car is best as a parts car as it would take many, many dollars to repair even with a donor car and plenty of patience.

I hope this helps :v

I can Fix it! :gap

"If" you can weld and fab some schtuff is one thing... getting the car to pass a visual inspection is entirely another thing. There is so much damage done to that bastage that it's an economic disaster. Callaway specific parts just to get the car running would be ~$10k. How long does it take to get them?? Let us know-- we've been watching Ebay religiously for years and years... and only one set of exhaust manifolds and like 1.5 turbo sets have come up for sale in several years.

Maybe some of the parts from the new Neon SRT-4 can be modified to fit?:L I'd write that car off as a parts car. I'd give the guy $1000 dollars for 15 minutes with some tools.. whatever I could get off of it in that time is MINE! ;)
