I changed the thermostat. I think it is still running hot. gauge inside works but i don't think it is right. I belive the fan is not kicking on right. Do you have any ideas or does anyone know how to stright wire the fan?
The check engine light comes on sometimes and it smells like it is running hot.

When is the car running hot? Sounds like you are sitting still, in that case it could be a fan issue. However, if you driving down the road (highway) and it is overheating you could have other issues.

after I drive it for a while then stop it smells like it is running hot. Found out today the right fan is not working but you can hot wire it and it works. checked the relay and it seems hot with the tester. Do not know if it is in the wires but would it be okay to stright wire te second fan? when it gets to 195 the driver side fan will kick on but the passenger side does nothing. thanks for your help

What engine codes are showing?

I think it is still running hot. it smells like it is running hot.
Unless you have a special calibrated sense of smell ; what temp is showing under what conditions?

the driver side fan will kick on but the passenger side does nothing.
Exactly as it is supposed to work ( Stock the Pri fan should not run until 225)

2nd fan should only run with A/c on or IF engine goes over temp and the computer turns the 2nd fan on for extra cooling.
Turn on A/c and see if it works

I changed the thermostat. I think it is still running hot.
Changing thermostat without changing the temp the fans are programmed to run at. will change little.
Just means the engine takes longer to get up to temp

Have not had the codes checked yet. the temp gauge goes up to 195 and then the fan kicks on if you are setting still. just has that smell that a car does when it is running hot. the temp out side where I am at as been around 60 and 70

Thats kind of weird my car runs to cold yours runs to hot LOL.

He has yet to establish what temp engine is at ; it may be the gauge giving a faulty reading
All new C4 owners freak out if they see temps over 200 when the fans don't turn on until 225+

So you need to get one of those hand held temp scanners and see if actual engine temp is same as what is showing on temp gauges
You mean one of those Chinese IR gizmos? :rotflMight be hard to figure out what to aim at, assuming you trust it, to get a valid comparison.

Oz, UR a gift for all your valuable input to UR fellows!

Hopefully he'll answer the very pertinent questions you posted :w

I got it fixed it was in the relays. thank for your help

:chuckle

I'm old skool , have a mech temp gauge I install to check operating temps.
But everyone I see these days seems to have carry of those IR devices in their back pocket which is why I suggected it
