My '02 ZO6 has an intermittent power seat problem. When you pull out the key the seat goes back to the furthest position. When you reinsert the key sometimes it doesn't return to the preset position. Any idea what would cause this?

HI there,
I would check for codes in the SCM and LDCM to see if there is a position sensor problem.
That would be my first course of action.
How to do that is at the top of this forum on a sticky post.

Well, you were close, Paul. One forum off. ;)

A set of instructions on how to pull CODES is at the top of the C5 Technical and performance forum. :)

My experience has been that the seat return works only if you have unlocked your Vette just before inserting the key. In other words if you stop your Vette and take the key out, the seat will go back. If you put the key right back in, the seat will not go to your preset. BUT! If you take the key out, push unlock, then put the key back in, the seat WILL go to your preset. Works that way on mine, anyway.

RC135,
Bear in mind that Z06's, as a weight savings measure don't come with a memory seat function with the two pre-sets. Only Coupe and Convertibles have that. (Although I wouldn't think there was all that much weight in those memory seat controls.)

Thanks Patrick! One has to have it somewhere in mind to keep it in mind. Didn't know weight saving extended to bits!
Maybe some kind Z06 owner could test the unlock vs. key insert functionality & let us know??
Know anyone with a Z06?? :-}} Even a black one?

You'd be surprised. For instance, unless one was installed aftermarket, Z06's didn't come with power antennas. And the passenger seat has no power function to it all- you get a lever under the seat to move it forward and backward. :)

Even a black one? I'm not sure, but I think Black Z06 Corvette owners are being insulted. ;)

The memory package was an option on my 02 Z06.
The seat only moves up to the memorized position (1 or 2) the first time you insert the key after unlocking the door with the 1 or 2 fob.
You can always press the 1 or 2 button on the drivers door to get the seat to return to the memorized position. Press is quickly though; if you hold it down it will memorize the current position.

I am going to try this,

My experience has been that the seat return works only if you have unlocked your Vette just before inserting the key.

If you put the key right back in, the seat will not go to your preset.

BUT! If you take the key out, push unlock, then put the key back in, the seat WILL go to your preset.

Works that way on mine, anyway.

I know I also have the memory package and the information as stated above just might be the solution I am looking for, as I have replaced the FOB batteries and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. After the above post the fact that I come home and park it in the garage without locking it could explain the work/doesn't work issue. When I go to get in it the next time I just insert the key without pressing the unlock button.

And according to the manual you can progarm for up to three different drivers using the 1 and 2 buttons in a combination.

Yes, I have programmed a 3rd preset that way. It is of the lesser-known facts about the memory package :upthumbs

I would never, ever, insult a fellow Corvette owner! Tweak? Maybe! ;LOL

Hmm... in that case... I owe you a tweaking.

Owed by a Mod??!?? Sounds bad. :ugh

I'll be in Denver between the 3rd & the 9th of May for business & to visit my two sons ... maybe we can work this problem out amicably over food &/or liquid refreshment? ;)

That sounds like a very civilized way to work out a good tweaking pay-back! :L
:beer

Wednesday, May 3rd would actually be a better night for me, but please PM me and we can talk restaurants. :)
