Yesterday I got a chance to test drive a 2008 Zo6. I didn't ask to. But the sales man insisted. He didn't have to ask me twice. It was that burnt orange color. Very nice. Its definetly faster than my 90 stock Zr-1. Of course I expected that. It has more power at low rpms so it gets off the line quicker. and this is with a 300 lbs sales men in the car with me. Very smooth and quiet. He asked if I was interested in maybe trading in my ZR-1 in on it. I said I would never forgive myself if I did that. Maybe one day I'll have both of them parked side by side in my garage. That would be a beautiful site.

Well at least you got to drive one and see how it feels. The ZO6 is amazingly fast, but so is your ZR1. It is a different time, so of course the ZO6 is going to be improved, as it should be due to improved technology since 1990.

Don't get me wrong , My ZR-1 is no chump. At the texas mile finish line It was averaging 155mph at the one mile finish line. The ZO6's were comming in at 161 low 160's. And at the big bend open road race in west texas it was clocked at 179.8mph on the strait away's average spead of 168mph for 98 miles strait with no burning oil smells, No mechanical problems at all which was impressive. But the 505hp ZO6 has gracefully dethroned it. It may have taken 18 years, but it finally happend. I liken my ZR-1 to something my uncle once told me (I may not win any fights anymore, but you'll damn sure know you was in one.

Those are some great numbers. I am not saying anything is wrong with your ZR1. Like we both said after 18 years they finally made one to dethrone the ZR1. If you think how long it took, it is amazing.

That is great! Sounds like something my Dad would say (he's a Texas boy himself).

Congrats on still taking your ZR-1 out and running her the way she was meant to run! :upthumbs

Yeah. It is a cool car to own with some cool history on the books. One day I would love to have a Zo6 though. But my pockets just arent quite deep enough for that yet.
