Thank you, Pete!

I just got off the phone w/ Mike Vendetto from Callaway. They have agreed to port my wastegate housings and install the larger valve. The service also includes a good once over on the turbos.

To say Im excited is an understatement :Twist :Twist

Its HP time folks :D

Good deal Josh, I told you to keep the faith - and ask again :beer

Callaway Supports the Owners !!!!!!!!!

Anytime Josh, I am glad to do it . As a group we can get alot of things done Like I said Support is Key. We support them and they will support us. Pete

As the wheels are always turning......

Since the turbos will be apart, I wonder how much it would cost to have them Extrude hone the compressor and both portions of the exhaust housing? :D :D :D

Josh:_rock, please keep us posted on the cost and the timeframe. My turbos have done a few miles now ;)

Malc, assuming everything is ok with the turbos (which I'll be more than suprised if it isn't)...the cost is going to be between $700-800.

That puts a pretty large dent in my mod money (probably stalling my extrude hone :( ), but it was definitely a necessary link in the chain of massive power ;)

Josh, I'm getting the (bad sign? :( ) of oil round the turbos so that's why I was wondering maybe a bit early as I'm a preventative maintenance type rather than waiting to blow it up.

Having said that the car doesn't use any oil, even after a couple of hundred miles of high speed driving (good?) nor do I see any oil out the pipes even on start up.

I havea bit of a suspicion regarding the oil pipes that connect to the turbos - the other day I found the bolts for the lines on one turbo needed tightening up. A while ago I made gaskets (with gasket paper - I think the originals may be rubber but the edges of the gasket are real thin by design) for the line fittings into the turbo. May have to make some thicker ones?

I am religious about oil, always using 15w50 Mobil 1 every 2,000 miles and a good filter (am I wasting my money???) and the signs are that the car was well maintained before I bought it.

There are accomplished turbo specialists over here especially as there's such a market for the "fast and furious bunch" but I think they'd be able to do a standard rebuild but don't know if they could cope with the work you're talking about.

The other thing I always have to factor in is the shipping to Callaway and the horrible feeling that I have let rare parts go out of my sight. Impatient as I am, I've always hated being off the road for any length of time!

Malc, I wouldn't want to try and diagnose the oil issue. I know when I bought my car the oil lines to the turbos got a small leak. I had them replaced and it took care of it. You could have a small leak in one of the housing seals.

As far as letting your turbos out of your site...

Thats why they have shipping insurance :D Insure those suckers for 2k/each and ship them to Callaway. They told me the turn around time would be 2-3 weeks.

Now is the time to get this mod done if youre going to make serious power. Jump on board! :D :D

You can have the exhaust housings extrude honed and ceramic coated. The intake side can be polished and teflon coated. You can also get the headers ceramic coated while you've got everything apart. Those are the mods that AS&M did to mine... before it was "un" built and put back to stock...

Kevin, I only wish i had the cash to do all that. Sure is cool to dream :D

I talked with 542C2, I think he may call Mike Vendetto today and get in on this action. Maybe we can get a group rate is a bunch of us have the work done :L :L :L

This has proven true again & again!!!!!!! This is why Callaway Corvettes are legends now & in the future :m

It's just very cool to read how the Callaway owners as a group interact with Callaway enginering! The part's the remake of develope for the select group of owners and the support and information etc the owners give Callaway in return. A small almost family like group, very cool! :upthumbs This is the best way to keep Callaway alive!! :beer

@Josh, good luck with the turbo's!! :D

Groeten Peter.

Wastegate Modifacation

Well my Turbo's were gone through and were in perfect shape .I did not expect that they would be any different being the car only has 6400 miles The waste gate is completed now with the Larger valve and spring. So if anyone else is interested in this Call Mike Vendetto at 1 860 434 9002 Very nice guy and very knowledgable about the cars also.
