Thanks to everybody that has given suggestions and ideas about the hard start problem with the 85 Vette..and to Bossvette for the runners.

It turns out the fuel pump was bad. It was letting fuel run back out of it when you shut it off, starving the motor for fuel on start up.

Nikki actually changed the pump while I swapped the runners.

I have about three gallons of the 2 year old gas left, and just slapped about 10 or so new gallons on top of that.

good job Chris! and too Nikki for changing the pump! :upthumbs :D

Nice to have a wife with smaller hands for those tough jobs, congratulations, now what are you going to do with your time?

:L

I need to change my fuel pump also. The pressure bleeds down and I have to crank it longer after it has sat a spell.

So what I need to know is when can Nikki come to Vegas???...................lol........... ;worship

Cheers!! :m

Uhhh, not after I have seen those "what happens here...stays here...." commercials!!!!!!! LOL!

Yep, pretty amazing. It actually cranks up now! I never knew the pump had a check valve system in it to keep fuel from backing out of the feed side of the line.

Life and learn.

It blew a power steering hose, and I hope to get it today. Gotta swap that out, fill the diff, and it is rolling to OctoberVette under the command of my buddy Kurt and his wife Renee.

:upthumbs Great news Chris. I was hoping you'd make dinner tonight but look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.
Later,
Carlo:w

my factory fuel pump died back in 2000 when I put in my 355 super ram motor.

I now run a walbro 220 pump...I think that is the model number..........
