At the Chevy - Vette Fest last weekend, I saw a VERY Nice Copper colored Camaro from the late 60's. While not a huge fan of the Camaro's, I am big on the color Copper
Reading the owners display board, I noticed it was a COPO Camaro, a Camaro destined through its ordering process to be a Yenko Super Camaro - a rare car in its day, very, very rare today :eek
Talking with a fellow B2K owner about un-converted cars, the subject of the Callaway Corvette came into conversation. I knew about the 1990 Vert' that never got the TT transplant and he said an 88 hit that same situation as well :eek He said it was an 88 car ordered through Malcolm Konner in NJ and for some reason, it never saw Old Lyme - Later on, the story goes... The current owner tried sending it back to Old Lyme to get the engine to match the SPI label RPO Code - No dice, Callaway Cars said no more.
I always find it interesting to read about rare cars and some of the stories that surround them - I think Callaways will certainly add to that over the next couple of decades
Anyone else have some interesting Callaway stories or facts to share??
