Hello. Me again with the code 32. Again, I have changed the EGR,EGR tube, and the EGR temp switch. I still get a 32. At night it stays on. In the day it is intermittent. Today it came on and right when it did I smelled fuel. It went off and I never smelled it again. The car is running really strong, but I still have the hard starts when warm. Could the fuel vapor cannister solenoid be doing this?? I can't seem to find one, but I am going to call Contemporary Corvettes tomorrow. Thanks and sorry for being a PITA.

I'm not sure what the problem could be but please don't feel it necessary to apologize for asking questions. Helping each other out is one of the CAC's core beliefs. I'm sure someone will chime in with a possible answer.

Not sure if this will help, but when I was having some intermittant code issues the wire insulation at some of the connectors had shrunk back and they would touch every now and then and throw a bunch of mysterious codes at me, most of the prob's I ahd were with the fuel relay.

The wire insulation that go into the relay had shrunk back, and man you wanna talk search everywhere for the problem.

Just my .02 worth.

You didn't mention the number of miles on your car, but based on the year I will assume more than 80K. On that assumption, the most likely cause is a clogged port. EGR ports are not that big and carbon will eventually block them off. More than a few perfectly good EGR valves are replaced because few people check the ports.

I also have the fuel relay wire shrink! Is that an easy fix? I have wire shrink on one of the MAF relays too! I did forget to mention the car has 95k on the clock and they are all highway.

I have another question. Where in the heck is the EGR solenoid on an early '86? According to the Haynes manual {I know they are wrong about some things} it should be on the passenger side by the distributor. I don't see anything that even resembles it. In fact, I see nothing at all! I asked this on another thread, but no one replied. Thanks for all the help.

Here is what it looks like and it is located right beside the coolant housing.

Here is where it is located.
