Throttle Body Question.

About 6 months ago, I read here how to clean the throttle body.
My 86 use to idle around 5-6/100 the I did a Little cleaning of the intake system and now it idles around 6/7/. My question is, can I spray a cleaner in there to help clean it, or must it remain dry?
I was thinking like a carborator cleaner or something similar.

The throttle body is treated no differently than any other carburetor body in that the same cleaners can be used on each with no ill effects. However, if you are asking for advice on which cleaner to use, that is a judgement call you'll have to make when the feedback starts pouring in here. At a minimum though, you should always follow the manufacturer's directions when using cleaners and the like.

What makes you think that because it is idling slightly higher now, that the throttle body needs further cleaning? Is the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor/valve adjustment correct? It really isn't that involved to remove the throttle body and give it a thorough cleaning on the workbench, just the basic tools are required.

hey everyone,
it says right in the manual,DO NOT USE CARBERATOR CLEANER,it will eat rubber.use fuel injector cleaner,..on my 89 i took the t-body off the first time and cleaned everything,even the IAC,after that ,when car is cool,i spray liberaly inside(with rag below so no mess)wipe off throttle blades.i do the same on the LS1,i clean it every other month,later,Todd.
