I installed Z06 ti mufflers , one is a little lower, how do you align, do you put a spacer in the rubber hanger, thanks Jim.

on my 2002, the rubber rear hangers had multiple slots - so you could adjust the heigth.

Jim D;

How do the Ti mufflers differ in appearance from the stock? I bought my '99 coupe used and can't figure out if a previous owner swapped mufflers or not.

Tnx.

Stock mufflers are very quiet to say the least. If it was an aftermarket muffler, you can usually tell because they'll have their name brand on the muffler.

Assuming '99s are like '02s, stock is 4 small oval tips - Z06 are round, larger and look like - Ti - sage/purple color from the heat.

I like my Z06 exhaust a lot - just the right pitch and volume for me.

Bingo!

Thank you. Mine are small and oval, so............I guess mine is stock. Not purple from heat either, sort of a medium gray in & out.

Tnx agn.

who sells the Ti systems.

A lot of the systems on non Z06 Vette's were taken off Z06's who ditched their titanium system. There are occasional sellers here on this forum that sell their titanium system. Corsa also makes a titanium system.

Does anyone know approximately how much horsepower the Z06 Ti exhaust adds over stock? Since it has reduced backpressure I would expect that there would be some modest (probably not enough to feel) increase - maybe 5hp - 10hp? Any ideas?

Yeah, probably somewhere in that area. And don't forget that the titanium system saves some weight. :D

You may get some more HP from the TI exhaust but the real performance increase is from the weight savings. If you go to a Z06 exhaust you should also change the air intake cover to the 2002 and up Z06 cover. It allows more air in (has a bigger opening). Put a K&N or other brand high flow air filter. That'll help your C5 breath better.

These mods are not really going make much of a difference. It may change the torque curve a little bit and add a few HP but the better sound will make you and anyone within earshot think had added a lot more horsepower.

Depending on how much misalignment you have, you can get a lot of mileage out of rotating the pipe at the flange connection. Some guys have filed the holes into a slot, or turned down the bolt shanks to allow more rotation.

You might notice that not only are the left and right sides a different height, they are also slightly out of parallel with the ground... hence rotating at the joint may solve both problems.
