Well, we've reached minus 200 days in this countdown to madness. It sounds like a lot until you look at the stack of parts boxes I have to deal with if this body and paint episode ever ends. :eyerole

Update #1: I got 25 pieces back from the potassium-sulphate-blasting today, including all the window stainless. This is the same way that the body paint was removed and it sure does an amazing job. Not only did it buff up all that shiney stuff, but it removed all the hardened, grungey window putty as well. It's the only way to deal with metal parts. Did the battery tray, the backup light pots, and lots more too.

Update #2: I'm so wired today, I went down to my Chevy dealer and ordered a white 2004 Tahoe Z-71. I had to do something. If I don't drive this bloody Corvette again soon, I'm going to explode.

Be strong, 67.... it's come together! :)

What is the matereal you described. It actually polished the stainless to go back or or you still have to have it polished.

The header bar on my winsheild has these tiny inperfections thirty plus years of the top going on and wonder if I should get that done to polish it up

When does it get painted silver? (I mean black)

Good Luck with the new truck I just recently purchased a new truck also. The old ford was a good truck but every thing was rotting out on the bottom of it.

I hope this isn't how you will be handling this long cold winter! Buying a $50,000 toy every few days! :L
Try more cold beers in your garage, it's cheaper!

Larry,

The media is potassium sulphate and is biodegradeable. I would say that 90% of the polishing work (assuming no major damage) is looked after by this process.

See Chapter 11 on my website.

Nice rig you've got there. I bet it was built right here in Oshawa. But, what's that on the trailer? The new C6? :D

Rocket,

Here's the shocker. The taxes on the Tahoe are 135% of the total price that I paid for the Corvette, :cry :mad and there were no sales taxes back then.

[rhetorical question]How did we let ourselves get into this situation?[/rhetorical question]

The Z-71 comes standard with the LM-7 5.3L SFI Vortec V8.
295h.p. / 330lb.-ft.

P.S. MODS - Sorry for bringing this thread back in this section. It was sort of relevant when it started. Feel free to move to Other Cars.
