Hi,

Can someone tell me the complete procedure to set timing on a L-48 engine. I have a timing light but want to make sure I do everything right. I would need all the details. like what degree should it be timed too, should i unplug vacuum advance first, wich RPM the car should run for tunning. Should I set Idle RPM before unhooking the vaccum advance or after? if someone could provide me detailed procedure, that would be apreciated.

Thanks
Daniel

I've checked the above link. it's all good but it doesn't give me what I need. On my demper I have -8 degrees, - 4 degrees, 0 degree, 4 degree and 8 degree. I need to know what is the degree I need to set my timing at on my 350 L-48 engine. And id that link. I don't have it. And no I don't have any books with that info in it.

There should be a label in the engine compartment with the timing information. The 74 Service Manual list it as 8 degrees BTDC at idle with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged. Hope this helps, PG.
