when timeing light is on timing mark and engine is at an idle ,what should it be reading?0-+1,2,3 etc...383 stroker tpi all ported, heads intake plenum runners

On an L98 using the stock engine controls, timing is controlled by the engine computer and is not adjustable.

All you can do is check the base timing, by disconnecting the timing connector, then setting the timing to whatever the FSM says the base timing should be for your model year. Seems to me that most of the L98s base timing was 8°BTDC, but I'm not sure on that.

If your chip is custom, for that engine, ask your builder what it is setup to be. Mine chip was 'cut' for 10* static with the ESC unplugged.

Else, run it with more base advance, short of pinging. :w
