i have said this before and im sure i will say it again a dozen times before i die...... i know nothing about tire sizes.. i am looking at a set of 17X9.5 wheels for a 84 that i just picked up but i dont know what size tires i would want to go with.... tire sizes confuse me!;shrug

My 90 has ZR, P275/40ZR-17 on it. Size depends on if you want to match the circumference to the original tires.
On tire rack they list the specifications of all the tire.
You can do a little research there and decide the tire you want. The p275 is the metric width of the tire , the 40 is the percent the sidewall is of the width .

tires on an '85

Hotshotz, in case you did not get my reply, I have P245/45ZR17's on the front and 275/40ZR18 in back and it works. However, the off-set is wrong and it looks too tucked in. I have 1/4 inch spacers on back and the tires just barely clear the mufflers. When the suspension is 9/10th's compressed (railroad tracks, etc.) there is a slight rub in back. So, I need adapters at all four corners.

I think most people go with the 275/40's for the 17x9.5 rims.

The 275/40's are still pretty common so that should be a factor for the future.

So you made the plunge for the 84!

That tire stuff can make your head spin! This is my favorite site for tire size info.

yup... gonna try my best to keep em both for now, see what i can do along the lines of starting a full restoration of the 82 maybe... i might list it for a RIDICULOUS amount hoping someone will take the hook but if not i wont complain:D

'85 wheels?

Hotshotz,

Are you still looking for wheels (original) for your '84?

But I think the max you can mount on the 9.5 rim is a 285.
