I'm looking to get rims for the 80'......Tire Rack has an 18" available, which they list for being a + size available for the 80'...... It's a Sport Muscle Nitro 5, 18x8.5 4.48 B.S. 6mm offset, comes with proper lug nuts and center cap, for $201 ea........The rims look pretty good on the 80' ..........The question is, does anyone know how their service is and if they sell a quality product, I don't like having to send things back, it's usually a big hassle. Any feedback would be helpful... Thank you

First things first, I see this is your initial post and I would like to welcome you to CAC. You will find lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here.

Now as to your question, I personally have never ordered from Tire Rack, but I do go there for tire information. They seem to have a good reputation, both here and at other sites that I frequent. I would say they got that reputation through good transactions and dealings with their customers. I understand your hesitation and trepidation as the amount of money you are spending is considerable (at least in my eyes). Hopefully someone who has dealt with them will come by pretty quick and give you some first hand experience.

Welcome again to CAC.:w

I've been buying tires from Tirerack for years. I just put a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my GS from there, They also installed a set of Goodyears on my Colorado in 2011. The Firestones on my Z06 are from there as well. Not one bad transaction, positives all the way across! If they have what you want, at a price that is OK with you, don't fret the rest. They will take good care of you.

And oh yah... Welcome to the CAC!! :w

Tire Rack, like any other retailer sells a large variety of brands. They "brand identify" all their tires, and wheels and even provide reviews to allow you to be an informed buyer. They didn't get to be an industry leader by selling bad stuff. I've been buying from them, on and off, for decades, and haven't returned anything yet. I have been buying at Discount Tire lately because they price match, and I like to support local stores and workers. They also have great after sale service.

1ST Welcome to CAC!!!
now,I to have ordered tires from Tire rack,Good Year's and Firestone firehawks for the '81.
never had a problem, delivered to my door.
I would check that the rims/tires you want will fit before you buy them!

I too have ordered from the tire rack several times and I got a set of Firestone Firehawks from them for my previous corvette (LT-1) and I've never had a problem. As someone else said "delivered right to my door" or you can have them delivered to whoever is doing the installation.

But as Catbert said, Discount Tire and just about everyone else these days will price match. Go into your local tire dealership and show them what you can get the tires for from TireRack and they'll usually match the price.

Good luck with your new wheels.

Never bought wheels from TireRack, but I've bought several sets of tires. I like them a lot.

In some areas, they have installers that will work with them and install the tires and accept shipment direct to them. If nothing else, some local installers will match Tireracks price.

It's a win-win for many of us.

When I did the search on Tire Rack, the 18's came up as one of the choices for plus sizes, they should fit, B.S. & offset seem right for being 1/2" wider of a rim than the stock 15's
