Tire recommendations?

Hib,

Give it up - I think Jimmie probably already made his choice - sense he started the thread last October. Gosh I sure hope he bought those F1 Supercar tires. Just for my own edification - how many guys do you suppose actually drive their Z06's right to the edge of it's envelope?:L

F1-GS-D3
Remo:cool

I can't cite any numbers but, generally, I think there are more people who run Z06es to the limit than one would think...certainly more than ran other, up-option Corvettes of the past (such as C4 Z07s or ZR-1s) to their limits.

I'll add that there are some situations where, if a Z06er is getting ready to buy new tires, I'd suggest another tire. If you've got a 01-04 which you don't drive hard but you do frequently drive it on wet roads during the Fall, Winter or Spring, I'd not choose the F1 Supercar. I'd go with the F1 GS-D3 or another all-round ultraperformance tire such as the Michelin Pilot Sport 2. My reasoning is that the two latter tires have better wet performance and tread life than the Supercar and, confronted with driving in bad weather, they are better choices.

Me too although the goodyear isn't made in a Z06 size (295)
The Michelin........well for 40 years now they have been my number one however they don't last worth beans on Vettes!

I just put Avon tech M550 tyres on my C5 coupe and was quite suprized with how well they handled the wet roads. The price was quite reasonable with install @$650 for all four. Don't know if they come in Z06 sizes, I was quite suprized when they showed up in a Tire rack search. :D

so far so good.

None of the tires listed here are recommended for the Z06. I believe that is what the thread starter operates. These are available at Tire Rack for the Z and one of them is under rated speed wise. I wanted something sticky so I went Nitto's. I should have stayed with the OEM. Good luck.
