Wasnt for sure if this was the right place to ask this but this is a specialized question.
I bought a set of 5 original 68 redline tires on 68 ralleys this weekend but Im not sure what my plans for them are yet.Whats the best way to store them? Some people have said to bag them and keep them in a climate controlled room.Others have said to soakem down with silicone.Anyone else doing this?

Bag 'em and put them in a cool, dark place (like the basement); a tire's worst enemies are ozone and UV light. Hope you don't plan on using them for anything except on and off a trailer for show.

Sounds good.I bought them just for shows but think they would be better used for someone with a bloomington gold car or something.I have a storage unit I think Im going to put them in at least for the winter. Thanks

Reading this thread a few times now.. and I've been wondering if I should ask this here or start a new thread... Well I figured Mark got his answer, (I hope) so it wouldn't be imposing too much if I asked ;)

I have the "Original" Gator Backs (255-15) that came on my 1981 Corvette. I have them stored in my shed. I thought I would keep them and use them if I every decided to NCRS Rare.. But I doubt I will every take the time to do this, since I plan to repaint her next year, and I've already changed the exhaust from the front Y back (flowmasters) and NAPA alternator, and New plug wires.... OK back to my question..

Would there be any interest in these old gatorback tires?? They came off my car at 59,000 miles .... so they are about 3/4 worn, but the white lettering and sidewalls still look good.. BUT being over 20 years old they aren't worth much more than for show..

If anyone would be interested I'd sure like to hear from you. Please post here or PM or Email me.. OR should I keep them???

Thanks
Bud

They are definitely worth something.Check on ebay.Any tire that isnt being produced anymore is worth a good bit to the ncrs trailer queen kinda car.
Do a search for them on ebay ,youll be surprised. When you search ,just use 'eagle gt ' because I think technically they werent called gatorbacks until 84.
I have a 82 z28 pace car that had the same tires and seen a set of nos eagles go for 2k last winter.
