Iam thinking about put 255/60R15 on my car. I have 225/70R15 on the car now.Do i need to change the rims or are the ones on now ok.

They MAY or MAY NOT fit your 79. Yes, the 255s were an option in 79 but the factory did some trimming on the 78s and 79s to allow full clearance when turning. Rims were the same.
Look at your front openings and see if they are even around the entire opening. The trimming was crudely done with a grinder starting about 6" forward of top/center removing about 3/8" at the forward position. A little was also removed behind the rocker molding.
But, even without the trimming, they may fit OK. Lot of guys with pre 80 Vettes have had no trouble. Just preparing ya!
