My 03 has just turned 25K and I need new rear tires. Should I stay with the OEM Goodyear? Any suggestions?

Generally, no. The OEM GY's for a C5 are hard and noisy, especially as they age.

If you're interested in staying with runflat tires, my suggestion is to switch to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP - as in All Season Zero Pressure. Quieter, better in the rain, longer lasting, etc.

If runflats are not an issue, then I recommend the GoodYear F1 D3.

IMHO you don't need to spend the money for Michelins, and I agree the GY are noisy. Look around and talk to other owners. Wait for more posts. I have been in the tire business for over 25 years, including 10 years as a Goodyear Dealer. I think both brands are overrated and overpriced. I run BFG's that are not runflats, but there are a lot of satisfied owners running other brands. A competent dealer would first ask how you use your Vette, and what characteristics are most important to you, such as long wear, noise, dry or wet handling, etc. Good Luck.

Good idea. I'm in no hurry. I now use the vette to and from work, live in VA the weather is fairly good. I don't do road runs or racing. My greatest concern is mileage. Due to my age 59 noise is not a problem I can't hear, see or remember much anymore. I getting ready to retire with 35 yrs. I don't want to have to buy another set of tires for this car. I plan on giving it to my son before that happens.

ejf, I'm not going to yell or use large fonts, because I'm slightly older than you and I can still hear and see when I want to, but don't tell my wife. Anyway, just my $.02, I have switch all my cars to BFG's. My 87 and 98 have the original KDW's and my Z has the KDW2's. I feel that they are much better than the stock tires. Just my opinion.

Any tire gets harder..rubber does as it ages.The stiff sidewall gives the Goodyear it's superior runflat characteristics.

Shoot me a pm if you'd like a used pair 9 and 10/32" (10 is new) Right around $575 plus actual ship.

Thanks for the offer. But I,m going to buy local. I ordered a cycle tire on line and around here I found it very hard to find someone to mount it because I didn't buy it from them. I can always go back where i bought the tires from if I have any problems. Thank again

You're welcome. I'm fortunate to have several good shops near me and a friend who manages service at the Goodyear store.

FWIW ... I checked the local installers list for Tire Rack and Discount Tire and found one close that was well-rated, and most (relatively) reasonable ... and had my tires drop-shipped there ... no problem.

I put a set of Michelins on at the beginning of this year. They are indeed quieter, however I think they don't handle as well. Their tread pattern (very open) seems to be more biased toward "all season" traction, rather than basic summer (rain and dry) traction.
