1976 stingray coupe
hi, new here. would like to know if I can put 235/70r 15 inch tires on the front of my 1976 stingray. and 255/70r 15 on the rear with a 3and a half inch back space on rims. I belive the stock rims are 4 and a half inch back space, so I know that the tire set up i'am shooting for wont work with the stock rims. is there any danger of breaking something? im looking to change the tranny gearing through the tire set up. I have 4.11 gears in tranny now. thanks

With the lesser offset wheel in rear, you are probably going to have interference fit from the emergency brake cable and it's mount on the side of the trailing arm. With a stock wheel, you should be able to put a P255-60 size tire on the rear. I believe the stock tire for your car was a P225-70 on the 8" rim, so a larger 70 series tire shouldn't be a problem on the stock rim. And I assume you mean that you have 4:11 gears in the rear axle, not in the transmission.
