Good afternoon everyone! This past winter I purchased a 93 coupe. The tires on the rear appeared to be new Michelin Pilot XGT's. The front has a set of Goodyears that I want to replace. I can't find the Pilot XGT's in my area for the front. My question is, should I keep all tires matching or is it ok to keep the Pilots on the rear and put a new set of Kuhmo's on the front. Thanks and have a good week. Tim

Tire makers suggest keeping all 4 tires the same. I agree!;)

My own personal opinion is to run the same tires on all four. Meaning go and get a whole new set and be done with it. When I bought my 85 it had Goodyear HP's on the back and GSC's on the front. The car was very unstable, especially when the road was wet. I got rid of all four and replaced them with very highly rated Firestone SZ-50's and could not be happier with the performance of these tires, especially in the rain!
But as you will find..."to each his own..."
I spent a lot of time and researched the tire market and found www.tirerack.com to be very informative as far as tires go and recommendations on what to run. At the bottom of each page for individual tires you will find a customer survey, which was I used to make my decision, the SZ-50's still carry the highest marks and the highest percentage of "I will buy them again" of any other tire.
But whatever you do I would recommend you get a matched set on the car if nothing else for your safety...
