I am curious to learn how many of you have tinted your windows? Would that draw even more attention by the police? I was thinking about possibly tinting the sides and rear. I guess there would be a risk of messing up the rear window defroster lines. Comments? Horror stories? Success Stories? All are appreciated. Thanks!

My vette has mirror tinted windows on it and then my Patrol car has 5% on it. Ahh the advantages of being a deputy. But in all reality it does keep the interior cool during the summer as opposed to not having anything on them at all. Just make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing. If not put on correctly it will peel and bubble

Here's a pic of my back window tinted. The side windows have the same tint on them. I think that it may keep the interior a *little* cooler but don't expect anything drastic. I park it with the rear of the car pointed at the sun when possible.

As for LEO's, I've never had any of them pull me over for it. *YET*

Tint. Then take pictures and post them. If anything, your interior and dash will thank you!!!

Here is a before picture. Will perhaps get it done in a month or three. Perhaps a XMAS gift? There is just something about black and yellow. Will probably go pretty dark on all three windows. We had my wife's Camry done in 1998 and it still looks perfect. No bubbles or separation. Will go back there again.

Works fine here, but the cooling effect isn't dramatic...

No problems with the rear window defogger....

I tinted mine, and it was one of the best decision I could have made. (I've attached a pic.) Tinting should not have an effect on your defroster, if done right. The trick, on those large glass areas on coupes, is to have the tint installer match the sheets along one of the defroster lines to hide the effect that they had to use more than one sheet. That's tricky, but if you shop around, you can find an installer who can do it and make it look right. (This was something of chore when I did my '91 coupe. For the Z06, since the window is considerably shorter, it wasn't a problem.)

The only thing I haven't figured out how to address is that at the top of the rear window, the defroster has a sort of perforated bubble effect that the tint doesn't evenly adhere to. What I mean by that is that you can tell if you look at it closely that there's tint there because the perforation bubble on the window are actually darker than the tint. If anyone has ideas on how to address that, I would interested in hearing them.

Sure is nice in the heat of summer and not to mention it looks a whole lot better with tinted windows!

I have mine tinted really dark and its one of the best mods I did. It really helps keep the car cool in appearance and temprature!!

Ryan, mine cost me $179, and I think it was money well spent. If you can wait to do the tinting until you're back here in Colorado, I can give you the names of some shops in Colorado Springs and the southern Denver area that may work for you.

Mine was tinted when I got it, it was origionally from Texas. I picked up a glass top from Ebay and the tint matches here is a picture from the auction, I haven't taken any new ones

Thanks for the offer Patrick but I won't be there until Jan and thats a little long to wait. I have a friend in the detailing buisness so hopefully he can recommend a place. I was thinking mirror tints, what did you do for yours?

Ryan, I went dark with mine. With the black, I think it looks better than the mirror tint. :cool

Well, I finally got my windows tinted and am real happy with the results. I put medium on the sides and dark on the back window. Here are two pictures. I opted for the best tint they had. It has a lifetime warranty not to fade, bubble, crack or separate. I can even use ammonia based window cleaners on this one and it won't turn it purple. The job ran me $225

I still keep coming back to your superior picture of the car and wonder how in the world do you not scrape. I know parking on grass will make it appear lower. Mine is lowered with the factory adjusts (about 1/2-in?) and I scrape all over the place. I can't imagine how your fine car can survive the dips speedbumps and driveways. Please enlighten me. Thanks!

Tinting .... is one of the best thing you can do .... not only looks great but helps to keep the inside a little cooler .... I have a vert. and the tint looks great on the vert. top back window ...

Hitzelberger,
Any pics you can post, by chance?

I've found that other than the cooler temperature inside, there is another benefit to tinting. Because it blocks UV radiation, it helps to keep leather appointments inside in better condition. I mean, you still have to clean and condition the leather seats, but they won't deteriorate nearly as fast if you do tint your windows.
