Tom, didn't you mention that you replaced your fuel filter? Today I jacked the car and looked under there. Man is it tight! Any tips? Did you use any crow's foot wrenches? I have a new filter and two new rubber washers. Any tips on how to make it easier? The FSM says to disconnect one line, the one in front of it. Is that really necessary? It also says to hold the old filter and turn it to remove it. What did you do?

Thanks

Paul

'95 fuel filter change

There was a thread a few months ago (not sure?? which forum) that described disconnecting the fuel line at the back of the fuel rail. Then the filter rear. Then pull the filter and forward line out and change the filter. Feed the forward line up to the fuel rail and connect it after tightening the rear of the new filter.
Of course, remove the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition on for a few seconds to relieve the pressure first. It was said to be low on gas and park headed up hill too.
Another, much older thread, described a tool for disconnecting the plastic fuel line at the back of the plenum. I think Sears tools was one source; some sort of forked thingy.
Hope this helps; never actually done it myself but it sounded good. Please post how you find to do it.

Yes I have, and it was a mess! But since then I have seen the same thread as JM. I think that I may have copied it and have it in Word format. Paul, do want to PM me your email and I'll try to find it and send it to you.

It has pictures and text.

Thanks JM and Tom, yes! Please send it. I have discovered the fuel filter is 19 mm and the nuts that go to it are 5/8". What total crap! PLUS, I have to buy a 5/8" crow's foot because the way I see it that's the only way to get at that forward nut.

Thanks for your help guys!

Paul

Paul, PM me your email address. I'll send the word doc tonight. You don't have to buy that crow foot wrench!
