Top Gear tests Corvette Zed-06

Tony,
I'm curious- is "Fifth Gear" a Scottish television production? Or is it shown all over the UK?

Fifth Gear is on Channel 5, a UK national Station, it's well watched but the figures won't be as high as Top Gear because viewers love to watch Jeremy Clarkson mouth off!

They used to show Fifth Gear on the bbc america channel, but it hasn't been on for a few months. It was one of my favorite shows. This Tiff guy can really drive a car! He'll be speeding around a track doing 150 m.p.h. spinning out everywhere, commenting, joking and laughing like he's on a Sunday drive, and not wearing one of those ridiculous full face racing helmets like they do on the U.S. shows, you know, when they are test driving Scions and Kias and fast, powerful stuff like that. Great show.

Very high praise from Clarkson knowing how he typically feels about vettes. Despite some badmouthing he seemed to be reaching for issues and really did enjoy the car.

Says who? Seems to me that the Country where the car is built gets to determine whether it's "Zee" or "Zed." The Yanks have spoken. :D

As for his little puffery act, when he starts going on about the "flimsy" material, about the harsh ride, yada, yada, yada... I can't help myself: I end up yelling at the screen "at least the electrical system works, my Jaguar-loving limey friend!"

Yes, I know, I'm bad. ;)

Kinda reminds me of the Motor Trend article last month--after the Z kicked A** on the Porsches they ran it against, they resorted to "It's too loud and harsh to be considered the new King of Sportcars--it's not suitable for a daily driver". I was sooooo ticked I wrote 10 different letters to the editor, but they didn't print any of them--guess I was too direct in my lack of compliments about their intelligence.
Too loud? I had to remove the fuse to leave the exhaust valves open just to get my car loud enough... I agree the ride is stiff, but that is part of the deal, and if I wanted a cushy ride I could drive a Crown Victoria.
Have to say, the video was cool.

Someone actually reads that P.O.S.?

Aside from their juvenile writing, they slapped me with a credit complaint after I cancelled a subscription, per the agreement. I enjoyed that rag until I turned 13.

Yeah, nice folks. :w
