Yes! I have a 2200 Stall converter (Lock-up) in the original tranny for the L81.

Just curious if it works well.
Debating putting in a 383 or a 700r4 in mine.
Only have funds for one not both mods so wondering if the stock trans will work with a higher stall converter.How do you like yours?

It works just fine. Mine is a lock-up converter as well, so on 2nd and 3rd the serrated teeth engage and there is no fluctuation on the hydraulic coupling.

But I am trying to swap the tranny with a 200-4r tranny to get the benefits in the highway. I have 3.33:1 gears in the differential, so that turns the engine at 3,330 RPM at about 70-75 MPH.

With the 200-4r and its 0.67 4th overdrive gear will put the RPM's at around 2,230 RPM. I bought one used for the Acadian, but I plan to buy one ready for installation in the Vette.

p.s. The 700-r4 will require a bit more modifications on the Vette. If I am not mistaken, you'll have to switch the slip yoke to a 32-spline type. Also the drive-shaft has to be shortened, and the TV cable a a bit trickier to adjust. It is supposed to be more stout than the 200-4r, but nowadays, you can find a 200-4r that can take upwards of 600 HP. These days, you can find the crossmember support that will keep the original mounting bolt locations on the Vette.
