Touch Up Paint Question

My 1988 C4 is Bright Red. Do I need to order touch up paint only with this color name? On several paint sites I have been given the name Flame Red -- no option available for Bright Red. Also, Wal-Mart sells a universal red for GM -- would that work? If you have a suggestion or link for touch up paint for a red C4 (1988), I would appreciate your time and assistance. I'd like to know this too. My 89 is Bright Red. I was in the clothing industry and we had hundreds of recipes for dyeing "bright red".

You need to order your touchup paint by Make, Model, year and color code. Your particular color code translates to Bright Red, so named by Chevrolet. Somewhere on your car is a Service Parts Identificaion sticker with a code for the exterior color, among other things. Check the inside of the driver's side rear storage compartment or under the console lid. Location will vary by year of production.

Paint code

If you open the console storage box cover there should be a sticker with rpo codes. The paint code should be on the lower left or right side. You can also look in the Tech center drop down menu for more info on your particular vette

Hey Cajun, you may want to order your touch up pain from your GM dealer. I did that and it worked great for the first few years.

I finely gave up and just painted the whole car and you can see it in my profile.

I use a company called "Paintscratch" (Google and off you go). They have quick service, perfect match and all over very good. Reasonable shipping to.
