TPI with an 85 style MAF system-

I went with a MAP based system and a Painless harness back in 98 when I did my TPI swap. However, I have a friend who I will be helping with his MAF TPI swap from an 85 Vette. He has a slightly warmed over 350 with headwork and headers. Its pretty much stock passed that.

He is getting the harness from an 85 Vette and the rest of the TPI to boot. He wants to re-use the 85's harness.

I get the sneaking suspicion that this is a daunting task. Trying to sift through the "which wire is this" fiasco to get the system operational seems very, very time consuming. I would rather have gone with a Painless harness myself had it not been for the fact that the factory harness is coming with his purchase. I foresee a lot of crimping, soldering and cursing between the first assessment of the harness and the final product.

Any ideas or schematics from someone who has gone the factory harness path?

The way I approached the problem was to take the computer ends and hang them up on the wall about 6 feet off the ground, then splice into the wires a full length set of what I had, making copious notes on the wiring diagram about colors....
IF you have a complete harness, you may find enough factory colors to simplify your job....cut it apart very carefully, and you may find plenty to do the work with....
then splice the engine ends on when the final routing is layed out ....

I chose a path on the pass side next to the dist, and in a crotch of the a/c ducts....wire slips down under/between main ducts and the pass side duct from the diverter flapper....MY computer is now in the console....but it could just as easy go into the map pocket/glove box area....
