I have been having problems adjusting my TPS to the correct voltages...I can only get up to a
3.85V at WOT. I replaced my TPS and could only get about 3.75 on the new one. I put the old one back on.
Is the new TPS bad, or is there another adjustment that I need to make? I already cleaned out the throttlebody and cleaned off the IAC last year.........

Thanks

Here's the TPI low voltage check flow chart. Hope this helps a little....:w

you need to set the idlevoltage at around.5volts don't know the exact spec off the top of my head this would be close enough then take your wot reading most likley you will never see 5volts almost any thing over 4 volts is pretty much seen as wot to the ecm only my 2cents steve

Check to make sure that your reference voltage to the sensor is close to 5 volts. You should see at least 4.8. If not, either the computer is not putting out,or one of the other sensors that share this reference voltage is pulling it down a little. If you see 5 volts, then check your connector. If not, try disconnecting each sensor one at a time. If the voltage comes up, then the sensor or the wiring to that sensor that you just disconnected is the problem.

Thanks for the replies....On the TPS sensor, you need to adjust by hand using the slots in the sensor itself to get the 7.5V at idle and at WOT should be around 4.5V +/- .075.....I just cannot get my WOT anywhere close to the 4.5V.....If I push on the sensor tang, the voltage will go that high, but I cannot get my throttle plates to push the throttle body tang down any further. My car seems a little sluggish at WOT and there is a hint of hesitation...I know this could be much more than the TPS, but I would like to get that corrected prior to looking at other issues......So not sure if it is a bad sensor, or I need to adjust the throttle body somewhere....??

Happy Holidays

sometimes as the throttle shafts wear it can move and change settings check to see if there is any play in the shafts . steve

I wouldn't get too hung up on the TPS, especially if the car is not performing as it was. Unless you know that you were getting a higher voltage reading before. I would make sure that fuel delivery and ignition are operating properly first. There's more of a chance of something going wrong in those two areas.
One other thing that you can do is to hook up a scan tool to read % of throttle. If, when you floor it (engine off, of course) and the scan tool reads 100%, then the computer recognizes that the throttle is fully open, then you're OK.

Thanks for the replies..I will check for play in the throttle shaft, and if there is not much, I will not worry too much at this point about the low WOT voltage showing.
