I'm having a problem getting high enough voltage to the tps. It's about .490 thus not enough to adjust the tps to .530 +- .075v and my check engine code comes up to low voltage. any one out there can point me in the right direction to fix this problem the help would be greatly apper. thanks wal

Sounds like your TPS is going out. I had a simular problem after washing the engine, the tps reading odd and I couldn't adjust.
The check engine light came on also. I replaced the tps and back to cruising.

I'm confused. Isn't .49 within the .075 tolerance from .53? Shouldn't that be a decent setting?

tps problem

sorry about that the numbers were out of my head. it's about 4.90v and it needs to be 5.30 +- .075---------and these numbers may not be right I don't have my book with me, I just know that I'm not getting enough voltage to the tps. I talked to my wrench and he said try it when it's running and see what you get then. But I haven't had the chance yet. thanks for the input , wal

tps problem

It was after washing the engine also- you know how it is, got to keep it clean. I have a new tps on the way too---- thanks everyone. wal

I had the same problem. I changed the TPS and it still happened. I went through a couple before I discovered that it was the connector that plugs into the TPS and not the TPS itselft. If you look at the connector, there is are slots for 3 prongs to slide into. Well one of the slots and started to loosen and the prong would move back and forth inside causing an eratic voltage. I got a new connector, spliced the wires and bingo!! NO more problems. Now I have two TPS that are brand new.

Where are you seeing this? Wait I Think you posted another thread saying it was fixed. Reguardless....

At idle between 0.54v-0.68v
At WOT anything over 3.45v

Put a multimeter on your 5v reference line and make sure its still showing 5v
