Will be leaving for SACC Nationals in Harrisburg PA early tomorrow AM. I have loaded the 61 and secured it to the D-rings.

Where is the best location and method for securing a C-1 Corvette using straps and D-rings. I have only transported the C-1 once and the person that I purchased it from secured it to the trailer. I used an extra set of straps on the front and crossed the lighter set. The main set is around the whole lower A-arm and the light (5000LB) set goes through the center of the arm using axel straps. I cross the rear straps on the solid axel using axel straps under the brake lines.

Thanks for any help and hope to meet all of you at Carlisle!

Ray,

That is how I tied mine down every time I hauled it.

Ray nice trailer. So basically you want to tie it down to unsprung suspension components?

The 61 will not make it. I have come to that reality, but I still plan to be there. Good luck tomorrow and have a safe trip Ray.

here are pictures of my C1 on my trailer.....sounds like we did the very same thing....ALL of my straps get crossed to hold the car to the trailer.....

notice that my axle straps have sleeves over them to take any abuse from rough edges, last hing you want to have happen is the strap be cut by some sharp edge....the sleeves (the black that you see near the end, my straps are red with the black sleeves) are good for protecting the straps. Got my straps from Macs. Long term I want to get wheel nets for the front that will have a length of metal attached to the deck of the trailer, then the wheel nets will go around the wheels and attach directly to the strip that has been bolted to the deck.

Front of car with axle straps crossed through the A-Arms and attached to the D-rings.

I use the winch to load and unload the car, but do not count on it holding anything in place on the trailer......just load and unload....
