Tranny Question on my '69

As usual, I get one thing fixed and 2 more start to fall apart. That's nothing new to most of the CAC population I'm sure.
Well this time it seems I'm going to need to bring her to a professional for transmission assistance. I now am getting constant slippage from 2nd gear and 1st and reverse are getting more difficult to engage when hot.
Here's my question, I know eventually I'll want to upgrade my original 350 small block to more horses/torque, and I believe I still have the orgianal M20 or M21 tranny; my question is at what point in hp/torque would I need to upgrade the transmisssion if at all? I would think if it was okay for 1969 horsepower then if a rebuild was in order, it would be okay, but would the modern engine make a difference?
I've been reading a lot of recent posts regarding the 385 fastburn and it has enlighten me for the time being. My engine seems fine and if I were to upgrade I would just crate the original I guess and upgrade with an out of the box engine so I save the value of car. I would think messing with the original engine would affect the value but let me know if I'm off base.
Also, if anyone knows of a transmission place in Colorado they trust, please let me know.
Thanks, just trying to prepare for the future- Eric

Thanks Chris. I can't tell ya how glad I am someone trusts someone here in CO. I've had a few bad experiences in the past. Thanks again for the referral!!

They have had quite a bit of exposure in Vette magazine over the last year or so. I have no direct business experience with them, but I did talk to Mike. He seems to know what he is doing, and his crew is dedicated to making precision quality modifications and repairs.

They are on the cutting edge of C3 technology.
