I have a 2003 convertible the car sat for 4 years with a blown motor. I've got the motor done now the automatic transmission won't shift I am getting conflicting info on it. Some say try rebuilding the valve body that it sitting for so long may have gummed it up. Others say it's a waste of time. Thanks for the help

Not really enough info to go on. Will not shift when driving or the shifter will just not move? More info please.

Have you pulled the DIC codes?

Sorry it drives and goes reverse will run in 1 and 3 I've found out but to get it to shift I have to run it up to 4000 rpm and let off the accelerator. It is not showing any codes currently. I've been told that due to its long sit that the valve body may have gotten gummy. Preventing the 2 and 4 shift. I don't know if this is valid info.
Thanks for responding

Looked in the FSM diagnostics and could not find anything I could point you to. No experience with C5 autos except for driving a friends once.

Just to be clear, did you use the DIC switches to see if there were any codes versus just not seeing anything in the display?

If no powertrain DTCs are set, change the fluid and filter then road test and post your findings.

Ok I have a bunch o codes and have not had a chance to see what they are yet. They are in the classes of PCM , ldcm, sdm, rdcm, scm, rfa, and one I accidentally cleared. I guess my question now is do I clear these and take it for a drive and see what comes back up? Or should I run these down? I did change the filter and fluid it was black but not burned and no debris just sludge.
