I need help to know if my 4 speed transmission is the original on my 76 vette.
I got this number of the right side of the casting.
1304065903
W.G. Div
FPC1
3/5/75 build date I believe.

I would appreciate any help on this as I would like to know if I have a numbers matching car. I just bought this car last saturday and I've found out that motor is the original and has 85,000 K on it. It's an L82.
You can check it out on my web site.

Thanks
Craig Rudd

Craig -

The 1304 065 903 identifies the main case as a Warner; it should also have 13.04.066.901 on the rear extension, and 13-04-097-901 on the side cover. There will be a painted-on 2-letter code just below the side cover to identify the ratios; HS = 2.64:1 low, wide-ratio, HW = 2.43:1 close-ratio. There should also be a 5- or 6-digit Warner date code on the left side of the main case at the top rear, and a 9-digit VIN derivative near it - on your car it would be 1S6XXXXXX, where the X's are the last six digits of your car's VIN. If the VIN derivative matches, the transmission is original to the car.

Thanks John, I'll be checking it out the transmission this weekend for the other numbers.

Thansk again.

Craig
