I took the 350 engine and 3 speed transmission out, replaced with a beefed up 350 w/ TPI and 700-R4. The origional transmission mount/cross member does not work, too short. Will the cross member from an '82 w/ 700-R4 work? or just modify/ build a new cross member. If the '82 cross member works, where can I get one? Thanks, I'll be waiting for some info.

Texasharve,

I believe that the 1982's cross member would work, but it won't align with the holes for the TH350's cross member's holes.

Be aware as well, that the drive-shaft would have to be shortened. I am not quite sure, but the TH700R4 yoke spline set-up may be different as well.

Some members have already done the swap, so they should be chiming-in in a while.

I did this swap a couple of years ago. I went to Bow Tie Overdrives. They have new crossmembers that bolt right in and also let you route the exhaust for a straighter shot to the rear. Or they have adapters that let you use the stock crossmember with an adapter.

Thanks, I went to Bowtie Overdrives.com, looks like it is just what I need! Thanks so much for the fast info!
