PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND???? I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE 3K OIL CHANGE. I KNOW. I CAN GO TO 5K BUT I DONT.
I AM A GIRL AND DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MY CAR EXCEPT I LOVE IT.
I HAVE Z51 C6 MANUAL 2005. BOUGHT NEW. ORDERED IT. I NOW HAVE 43K MILES. I AM HAVING THEM FIX THE BACK CLUTCH. 2 TIMES THEY CHANGED FLUID. IT GRINDS. SO NOW THEY WILL REPLACE CLUTCH. BUT, THE SERVICE WRITER SAID I NEED TO SERVICE MY TRANSMISSION? I HAVE A STICK??? HE SAID. YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID???? I DO NOT SEE THIS IN MY OWNERS MANUAL. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THE SERVICE MAN IS CORRECT? OR, SHOULD I FIND A DIFFERENT DEALER? I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES. MY CAR IS AT RYDELL CHEVY IN THE VALLEY. PLUS. WHAT ELSE DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND FOR MAINTENANCE SERVICE.
PS. I DRIVE MY CAR LIKE AN OLD LADY. VERY CAREFUL. I WANT IT TO LAST FOR EVER. I NEVER RACE IT OR GO IN THE RED. I WANT TO RACE IT BUT I DONT. I DO EVERYTHING BY THE OWNERS MANUAL. AGAIN. I WANT THIS TO BE MY LAST CAR. I AM 54 YEARS OLD AND WAITED 25 YEARS TO GET THIS BABY.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND TIME EVRYONE;help:eyerole:confused

HI there,
No, you do not have to change your transmission fluid.
Clutch hydraulic fluid and brake fluid should be changed every 2 years/ 24000 miles.

Nina

ok. forgive me for this but. i have a c6. your note says he is special in c4 and c5.is the c6 different? please understand i know nothing about the machenics. only that i want my car to last for ever and i am concerned. because i had bad experience with my 1996 Ram Air Trans Am WS6. always breaking down. i want my C6 until my next car. and that will be a walker!!!!!!!

HI there,
Yes, C6 is substantially different.
The reason why I dont believe you need the transmission flushed is because your already fitted with a cooler and your not racing the car.
Please do not be concerned about your car.
They are telling you this because they want to make more money while your vehicle is there for service.
Oh and BTW,
I love Pontiacs too!!!

Nina, c4c5specialist is just his handle here. Paul is a GM World Class Certified Technician. That means he is the best of the best. Kinda like a Top Gun fighter pilot.

Paul is constantly going to school so that he is educated in all of the new GM technology. He works on all GM vehicles but has a liking for Corvettes especially.

WOW! THANK U. WISH YOU COULD WORK ON MY CAR. OK. SO LET ME UNDERSTAND THIS.
I ONLY NEED OIL CHANGE AND DIFERENTIAL CHANGE? ONE OTHER THING. THEY SAID I NEED TO GET THE T.B. CLEANED? AND INSPECT THE CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINTS? AND DECARB/T-BODY SERVICE? INSTALL FUEL SYSTEM TREATMENT? WHAT TREATMENT? CLEAN AND ADJUST BRKS? INSPECT EXHAUST AND COOLING SYSTEM.
PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND ALL THIS ????

ps as for my trans am. it was my first stick. fell in love with it. it was my sutto moch vette. it had the 6 speed LT1 (i think can remember) but, i know it was a vette engine. i kept it for 10 yrs. 140K miles. but. after 50 K miles. every month more than $500.00 in repairs. 4 radiators, fuel pumps x2. plus many many many things. i loved that car. was black/black. beautiful. awsome. i really miss it. wish i kept it. the day my vette finally arrived. my WS6 died. and i had it towed into dealr. gave them keys said. take it. i did not want to put another dollar in it. now, i wished i kept it. that is why i am so worried about my vette. my family all said.NOT ANOTHER GM. ARE YOU NUTZ/ but, i always loved vetts. when i was 16. i said. SOME DAY. SO. I ORDERED IT MARCH 2005. TOOK DEL. 6-10-2005. AND I AM SO WORRIED ALL THE TIME THAT SOMETHING WILL GO WRONG!!!!! (instead of enjoying the car)!!!!!

Hi there,
The fuel system treatment is 88861011, that is good.
As for the rest, throttle body cleaning, possibly depending on how it looks.
Decarb, probably not with your mileage.
Inspect the exhaust and cooling system, probably not, again being based on mileage.
If they charge for inspecting the CV joints, all they will do is look at the boots, I would be wondering why?
Clean and adjust brakes, meaning only the parking brake, because thats the only thing that they would have to adjust. You will need to remove the rear calipers to do this, so there should NOT be as much labor as if they were NOT doing the differential clutch change.

just got a call from dealer. they are not changing the clutch. they said they will try another oil? per bulliton jan 08. this should fix the problem in the back?
this will be the 3rd time they change this rear diferential oil? but, if this does not fix it. they will change the clutch. they said everything else looks clean and good.
so i hope all will be ok???????

HI there,
Im sure your fine.
They are reading the revised bulletin.
This fluid was just released, so you are getting a different fluid then you got the other 2 times.
